PETROLWATCH UK

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 07 August 2026

Ryan Bush provides PetrolWatch as a commercial iOS and watchOS app. This policy explains what information the app uses, what stays on your devices, and when information is sent to a service provider.

Information Stored on Your Devices

PetrolWatch does not require a PetrolWatch account. Your favourite stations, fill-up records, vehicle details, fuel and unit preferences, membership and preferred-brand settings, notification settings, and cached station information are stored on your device. Information needed by widgets and the Apple Watch app is shared through Apple-provided app and device services.

If you are signed in to iCloud, favourite stations and fill-up records may sync between your Apple devices using Apple CloudKit. Apple processes that information under the Apple Privacy Policy. You can manage iCloud access in your device settings.

Location, Maps, and Routes

If you grant location permission, PetrolWatch uses your location to show nearby stations, calculate distance and driving time, rank best-value stations, power location-based widgets and controls, and provide nearby-station notifications. You can refuse or withdraw location access in iOS Settings, although location-based features will then be limited.

Route planning and driving-time calculations use Apple MapKit. Your current location and destination may be processed by Apple to provide routes and travel estimates. PetrolWatch does not send your chosen route or destination to its own database. Learn more in Apple Maps & Privacy and Location Services & Privacy.

Fuel Price and Trend Data

PetrolWatch downloads public station, fuel price, price history, facility, and trend information from a Supabase-hosted service. For local price trends, the app sends your city or local-area name and selected fuel type; it does not send your precise coordinates in that request. Supabase may also process standard network information such as your IP address and request details to provide and secure the service.

This information is used to provide station results, price comparisons, trends, and data-quality improvements. Learn more in the Supabase Privacy Policy.

Usage Analytics

Google Analytics for Firebase is included in PetrolWatch, but analytics collection is currently disabled. PetrolWatch does not currently send its custom screen-view or feature-usage events through Firebase Analytics. This policy will be updated before that changes.

Advertising

The free version of PetrolWatch may display ads provided by Google Mobile Ads. Google may process information such as device and app identifiers, IP address, approximate location, ad interactions, and device information to deliver, measure, and protect ads. Where required, iOS asks for permission before the app allows tracking across other companies’ apps and websites. You can change tracking permission in iOS Settings. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy.

Purchases

App Store purchases are processed by Apple. PetrolWatch also uses RevenueCat to load subscription offers, confirm purchases, restore purchases, and determine whether Pro features are available. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, purchase and subscription status, product information, app version, device information, and related technical data. Learn more in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple’s App Store privacy notice.

Feedback and Station Reports

If you choose to send feedback, the title, category, description, app version, device model, and iOS version are sent through a Supabase Edge Function and saved as a GitHub issue. If you report a station problem, the station identifier, name and brand, issue type, optional details, app version, device model, and iOS version are sent in the same way.

The visibility of each GitHub issue follows the repository’s settings. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in a feedback message or station report. Submissions are kept for as long as they are useful for support and data-quality improvements, or until they are deleted. You may ask us to delete a submission by contacting us. GitHub processes submissions under its Privacy Statement.

Notifications, Widgets, Siri, and Apple Watch

If you enable notifications, widgets, Siri or Shortcuts, controls, or Apple Watch features, PetrolWatch uses Apple system services to provide them. You can manage the relevant permissions and settings through iOS, watchOS, and the app.

Your Choices and Rights

You can control location, notification, tracking, Siri, and iCloud permissions in Apple system settings. You can remove locally stored information in the app or by deleting the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold. Contact us to make a request.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information sent by the app, but no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as PetrolWatch changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
